Being called to minister not only to the world, but to our own community, 1st Church is committed to offering new life in Jesus Christ through these local missions:

  • AMIKids Crossroads – a residential program in Punta Gorda for troubled youth committed to these programs for approximately 4-9 months and can be committed for as long as 36 months. The youth reside at the program and leave only for off-site, supervised program activities or approved furloughs.
  • CARE: Center for Abuse and Rape Emergencies – http://www.carefl.org/
  • Charlotte County Homeless Coalition – http://www.cchomelesscoalition.org.
  • Feed The Harbor – An annual mission to help raise support for our local food banks in the Charlotte County area.  Normally held in March, this event allows for local churches to gather together, working as the body of Christ.  We are honored to participate in this amazing ministry and outreach to the Charlotte County area.
  • Florida United Methodist Children’s Home – Located in Enterprise, Florida, FUMCH is a ministry of the Florida Conference, offering a place where children are safe and loved; where youth are given the opportunity to be healthy, self-sufficient adults; where families become strong; and where every person is treated as a unique creation of God. FUMCH is supported through 1st Church 5th Sunday offerings and other gifts. For more information visit http://www.fumch.org.
  • The Gideons on a local level (some are members of our church)have done much to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ right here in Charlotte County.  Just last year our Peace River Camp distributed over 7,400 Bibles and Testaments to:  hospitals, nursing & assisted living homes, medical offices, fairs and festivals, jail and prison, homeless, high & middle schools, college, and military.
  • Habitat for Humanity in Charlotte County – http://charlottecountyhfh.org/

  • Team Christmas – offering Christmas joy to local families in need.
  • Trinity United Methodist Church Food Bank – Every 1st Sunday we ask for food donations to help feed the hungry in Charlotte County.  The majority of our donations are then given to The Trinity United Methodist Church Food Bank in Port Charlotte.
